CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Pre-dance: Introduction to dance. The child begins to develop coordination by increasing balance and agility. Rhythmic awareness is also encourcouraged. (45-min)

Combination: Introduce child to a new vocabulary (terminology)
Enhance coordination and flexibility. The class is divided into two 30-minute subjects (ballet, tap, jazz).

Ballet/Pointe*: Develop strength and endurance while turnout is emphasized. Along with correct usage of head and arms. (*Pointe: must be currently enrolled in two ballet classes per week before consideration can take place.

Jazz: Preferably has had a ballet background. Classes concentrate on various styles (modern, theatre, lyrical, and funk) depending on instructor.

Modern: Includes warm-up and movement to strengthen balance, ballet and jazz technique; lots of floor work.

Tap: A 50-minute class of barre and center tap technique. Class may conclude with a mini combination.

Students should be placed in classes according to instructors' recommendations.  Class become more beneficial if students are placed by ability instead of age, friends or years of study.
DRESS CODES
Pre-dance/Combination: Pink or black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers (tan tap shoes)
Ballet: Black or navy leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers; ballet skirts and leg warmers are optional items (check with your instructor regarding pointe shoes)
Jazz: Leotard of choice, tights (shoes: check with your instructor) jazz pants are optional items
Tap: Leotard and tights of choice, "single tap" - (shoe style: check with instructor)

This dress code is essential!  Students not dressed properly for class, will not participate in class.  Hair should always be worn in a secure style off the face and neck.
REGISTRATION & TUITION POLICY
Students will be taken on a first come first serve basis. Refunds are available until 8/15 however they will be subject to a $30 administration fee. After the 15th refunds will be 50%, any cancellation on or after the first day of your scheduled class will be non-refundable. Registration form, $20 registration fee, and payment of the first month of tuition is required to reserve a position for each weekly session indicated. Upon registration you will receive confirmation.
TUITION IS NOT REFUNDED FOR CLASSES NOT TAKEN. This includes absences or classes cancelled do to inclement weather. Classes may be made up during the year.
*Monthly tuition is due on or before the 10th of each month.
*There is a $20 late fee after the 20th of each month.
*There is a $20 returned check fee.
Recital costumes run between $50-$90. A $50 deposit is due for each costume by November 15th. Balances are due on or before February 1st. No refunds on deposits. (Costumes may have to be altered at parent's expense). All students perform in costume which adds a professional quality to the show.
ABOUT THE ACADEMY
Performance opportunities include the annual recital scheduled for June (This recital is open to all students enrolled at the academy.) Students are also eligible to become a member of the competitive team in which they may audition.

The director feels strongly that class time is for learning proper dance technique.  Therefore, rehearsal time for the recital is kept to a minimum.
